Today I learned...

Today our team at DDB Vancouver sat in on an entire day of content hacking thanks to the awesome team at Truly Ballsy Content #ballsybrands.

Today we celebrated great content, how to create great content and how to use content to promote your brand (whether commercial or personal).

We threw balls around the room to express our love (or dislike) for ideas, worked together as a team, cultivated our ideas then promoted them by building content on the spot.

The #1 thing I took away from today was the need to move forward on your idea. Do anything. Write about it, draw it out, build a lego structure. Anything. It might not be the best thing you've ever produced but just start building, tinkering, being inspired (and being mindful of what sort of thoughts and ideas bubble up to the surface) then launch it. Put it out in the world. Because once its out in the world the worst thing that's going to happen is having it fail. But at least its out there. Now its time to take some feedback on the chin, tinker some more then improve on your idea.

When you're stuck in "overanalyze" mode you're gonna go nowhere.

Thank you to Jon Burkhart and Tim Polder for such an inspiring/fun/crazy day.

I had a ball.

PS: check out Jon's book Newsjacking - which presents the best of today's branding work that uses newsjacking.
