Today I learned about chronotypes...
This morning I interviewed Dr. Michael Breus for an upcoming episode of The ManTalks Podcast. Dr. Breus is a sleep specialist and has written a new book called The Power of When - its currently the #1 book on Amazon in the Time Management category.
In The Power of When Dr. Breus talks about chronotypes.
What is a chronotype? Your body has been programmed to function much better at certain times of the day than others. Based on general morningness and eveningness preferences, different people fall into different classifications, called "Chronotypes”.
There are four Chronotypes (Dolphin, Lion, Bear, and Wolf), and most people fit into the “Bear” category. You can even take a free quiz to learn which of the four chronotypes you are.
I'm a Bear.
Bears wake up in a daze after hitting the snooze button once or twice, start to feel tired by mid- to late evening, and sleep deeply but not as long as they’d like. Most alert: mid-morning into early afternoon. Most productive: late morning. Naps: Bears catch extra hours on the weekends, on the couch.
With this information in mind I can now determine the best time for me to perform certain tasks like going to the gym, eating a heavy meal, focusing on a difficult task or having a challenging conversation.
Which Chronotype will you fall under? Take the test.
